Richard concentrates in the areas of real estate and title matters and commercial transactions. Richard earned his undergraduate degree in 1961 and his law degree in 1963, both from Duke University.
He was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for the period 1977 to 1982, and served on the Overseas Investment Reinsurance Group from 1978 to 1982. He served on the Orange County Expressway Authority from 1973 to 1975, and was appointed by Governor Bob Graham to serve as a Director on the Florida High Speed Rail Commission from 1984 to 1988.
Richard served on the Board of Visitors for the Terry Sanford School of Public Policy from 1989 to 1992 and is Director of Florida Next Foundation 2011-. Additionally, Richard has experience in the business sector, serving as director of American Heritage Homes USA, Inc., Surrey Homes, LLC, Columbia Land and Development Company, Inc., Property General, Commercial Vehicle Insurance Co., American Pioneer Title Insurance Co., Jefferson National Title Insurance Co., American Pioneer Life Insurance Co. and several financial institutions.
